Tour description:

Our personnel will come for you in your hotel to begin touring Iquitos, a progressive river town founded on the XIX Century, which reached its grandness during the “rubber boom” times.

You will see the beautiful tiles and iron balconies brought from Europe to glamour the imposing buildings and residences, homes of the prosperous inhabitants of the best known city in the Peruvian Amazon at one time.

You will visit the so called “Iron House”, designed by renowned engineer Gustave Eiffel, and learn how it was finally built in Iquitos main square.

Walk on the city’s boulevard with its impressive view of the Itaya and Amazon rivers, favorite gathering place both for locals and visitors; An stop at the artisan market will allow you to see and shop for the colorful handicrafts made with materials found in the surrounding forest. You will also visit the Regional Museum with its exclusive Amazon ethnic exhibition. It has an Exhibition of  mural decoration in carved wood and a set of antique furniture. The most impressive of the museum is the collection of 80 sculptures made of fiberglass with life-size representations of the main native communities of the Amazon of Peru, Brazil and Venezuela.

At the end of this tour, we will take you back to your hotel or transfer you to the airport if you have a flight scheduled.
